String Lighting
Our String Lighting is a quick, easy and inexpensive way to light the perimeter of your tent. Each socket has a small hook on the back so it can be clipped easily onto your sidewall rope. The candelabra based plastic sockets are mounted on the 18 gauge white wire either 12″ or 18″ apart.
You can purchase a spool of white wire in 1,000 ft. and cut them into your custom lengths. Attach the male & female plugs to the cut lengths and use our standard C-7 candelabra based incandescent glass bulb or use the 5 watt or 7 watt glass round bulbs. To make this lighting even easier we have them already cut, tested and ready to go in 4 lengths for each socket spacing. Available in 20′, 30′, 40′ & 50′ lengths that come with a male & female plug and a standard C-7 incandescent glass light bulb for each socket.
When using a C-7 glass incandescent light bulb remember to only run 100 sockets per electrical outlet. That means when using the 12″ spacing you can run 100 feet and when using the 18″ spacing run up to 150 feet. The 18 gauge wire will only handle that much power with incandescent light bulbs.
Another option with our string lighting is to upgrade to our candelabra based LED options. New C7 acrylic dimmable LED bulbs as well as have round plastic dimmable light bulbs. These bulbs have an equivalent brightness to a 5 watt bulb. The G40 bulbs are warm white, smooth plastic and measure 1 1/2″ in diameter. The G50 bulb measures 2″ in diameter. Light bulbs are sold in boxes of 25 & are dimmable with an LED compatible dimmer.
With the LED technology you can connect more of your string lighting together for a longer run making them economical and energy saving. Maximum wattage is 840 watts on the 18 gauge string lighting wire. With 12″ spacing you can run up to 420 feet & with 18″ spacing you can run up to 630 feet on one circuit if you don’t wish to dim the bulbs. If you choose to dim the bulbs there are many dimmer options available. Please refer to our catalog for dimmer recommendations for this style of lighting.
